Garcia Honored on behavioral Health Day

Jenny garcia of Raton was recognized and honored to be the LC-8 (Union, Colfax, Taos Local Collaborative) STAR, at the first annual Behavioral Health Day at the New Mexico Legislature.

Garcia is the vice chair/secretary for Taos/ Colfax Community Services , Inc., and serves as the TCCS board of directors in March of 2001.  During her tenure at TCCS, Jenny has helped advocate. Garcia was appointed to the to the consumer representative/advocate for van for PSR clients in Colfax County, started a Consumer Family Advisory Board Executive Committee.

Garcia was recently appointed by Gov. Bill Richardson to the Behavioral Health Planning Council.  She also recieved an award from Protection and Advocacy System for her dedicated advocacy on behalf of her son and others  with disabilities. Garcia is active with Parent's Reaching Out and the Suicide Prevention Task Force in Colfax County.  She sees her mission in life "to advocate for consumer with health/substance issues."
